In The Know: Prison Break SA
In a sequence of events that have stunned South Africans, a convicted rapist/murderer/scammer known as Thabo Bester and his doctor girlfriend were arrested in Tanzania on April 7. Early last year, Bester faked his own death to escape prison with the aid of his girlfriend, celebrity doctor, Dr. Mandipha Magudumana. At the time, he was believed to have died after setting himself on fire at a privately run prison facility in Bloemfontein…only he hadn’t. Three unidentified bodies later, Bester was on the ran with Mandipha who apparently decided to risk it all for an ex-con she met as a student. Bester was known as the ‘Facebook Rapist’ due to his penchant for luring his victims using Facebook Messenger. Watch Kenya’s Larry Madowo’s report on CNN.
