Take a short break
Taking a break does not mean running away from your responsibilites and binge watching Girlfriends (been there, tried it) but rather finding a way to rest your brain by finding something that stimulates it in a different way. Do you have any hobbies that help you relax and inspire some creative juices at the same time? For me reading a chapter from a great book usually helps while for others a quiet solo walk may be just what the doctor ordered.
Seek inspiration
You many find inspiration in the simplest of places, calling up an encouraging friend and talking about your rut may just give you a much needed boost. Watching a play or an artistic performance can help take your focus off you and onto someone or something else, there is something about watching people put themselves and their art out there that can help fire up your rusty creative engine.
Meditation
Meditation can help improve your focus and clear your mind. If you are not even sure where to start there are tons of resources online. Check out UCLA’s free online mediation audios for beginners, you can download and play them at your leisure.

Create for fun
Take some time out from deadlines and the like and practise your craft just for the sake of it, do it just for yourself. scetching, writing a limerick, trying your hand on a different type of art such as pottery may help you release some of the angst associated with creating to “eat”.
Play
When was the last time you actually played? As a child you may have found creativity in almost anything. It was something you did because you could, not because you were qualified or chosen to. Think about it, when was the last time you hula hooped? Or jumped rope? Learn a new board game or hang out with children, the way they see the world may just help jolt yours into focus and help you uncomplicate things.
